Assignment:

The President & Education

President Obama spoke with students about the importance of education at Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. The speech was broadcast to millions of American students despite much criticism from conservative organizations and some parents.

Even though many presidents have reached out to students in schools, President Obama?s speech was met with much debate. Some feared he would push his political agenda. Others believed he wanted to encourage students and promote a positive attitude toward school.

We want to know what you and your classmates thought of the speech. How did students react in your classroom? Did your class discuss the speech afterward? What did you talk about? Will your classmates make any changes to their study habits or school in response to what the president said?

Tell us, or better yet, report on the situation in your school and upload your segment.
